So the Syrian government is going to "study" the idea of getting rid of their state of emergency law that's been in place since 1963. In a press conference today, Buthaina Shaaban, the spokesperson for the government of Syria said the protestors' demands were "just" and that "there are some demands and we will respond to these demands. Some of it will be very quickly. Some of it might take time and discussions."
Yeah, OK. And in the meantime the Syrian government will continue to murder their own people in Daraa, Syria. Shaaban put the total death toll at 10 when in reality it's far greater than that. Activists and people on the ground have estimated the death toll to be at least over a 100 people. I wonder how long Shaaban rehearsed her disgraceful statement before actually coming out to deliver it.
The Syrian government may claim they are willing to meet "some" demands of the protestors and may promise reform in front of cameras, but behind the scenes it's quite evident that they are murdering peaceful protestors in Daraa.
